P.D.M considers Government’s setting up of a Task Force on an International Airport for Dominica to be an electioneering gimmick aimed at deceiving voters at the next elections.
After coming to power on a campaign platform violently opposed to construction of an International Airport. Having spent millions upon millions of dollars in converting Melville Hall Airport for night landing. And even before night landing looks like going to commence. Government is now talking about the need for an International Airport. What deception?
Fact is: From all accounts and by all appearances General Elections are around the corner. Government expects the construction of an International Airport to be on the campaign agenda of the opposition parties. So, it is jumping in front and trying to make the International Airport issue of less significance than it would otherwise be.
For us in PDM an International Airport for Dominica is long overdue. At the same time we believe that to gain maximum advantage from such an Airport, two major developments must also take place. One, our tourism product must be more properly shaped. And two, our agricultural production must be substantially increased and our products much more diversified.
